Historic building – Via Vittorio Emanuele II, Grottaglie (Taranto)

Historic building on two levels, called Palazzo dei Cadetti, located in the historic center of Grottaglie on Via Vittorio Emanuele II. Dating back to the 1500s, it was known as the Palace of the “second-born” because it was inhabited by the cadet family of the feudal lords. Recently RENOVATED, the Palazzo retains the original floors, the internal wooden doors, with their imposing carved frames and the marvelous eighteenth-century windows.
The main façade and the two side ones are in Baroque style, with precious rose windows, stone balconies and an important entrance portal with a door surmounted by an apotropaic mask (it was used to keep evil spirits away from the house); on the ground floor, you enter from the entrance hall, onto which several rooms (seven large rooms) overlook, embellished with typical vaulted ceilings, some of which have further independent access from the street; at the end of the entrance hall a courtyard encloses the staircase leading to the apartment on the first floor (piano nobile).
The main floor retains the historic layout of the building and develops in a sequence of large and bright rooms (eight), almost all connected to each other, which lead to the central hall, characterized by a large star vault, supported by semi-columns and flanked by cross vaults.
Almost all the rooms on the noble floor retain the Baroque doors, decorated with large and imposing frames, and these decorations are reproduced on the windows located on the street front of the building.
Furthermore, on the first floor, a balcony overlooking the courtyard leads on one side to a small warehouse once used as a dovecote and on the other to the access staircase to the TERRACE which offers a suggestive view over the entire historic centre.
The property can be used both as a prestigious private residence and as an accommodation facility.
